Methanol
Industrial methanol is widely used. Besides being a good solvent for many organic matters, it is mainly used in industrial production of synthetic fibers, formaldehyde, plastics, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, dyestuffs, synthetic proteins and so on. It is a basic organic chemical raw material.
CNOOC uses natural gas as the basic raw material for the production of methanol, introducing advanced German technical facilities and actively developing this high value-added synthetic chemical product. At present, the methanol production capacity of 1 million 400 thousand tons, the company base in Hainan in September 2006 has built a set of design of an annual output of 600 thousand tons of methanol in Hainan a production plant put into operation in December 2010, a design of an annual output of 800 thousand tons of methanol in Hainan two production device. A part of the production of methanol will be used in the company's production, and the rest will be wholesale sales for the market.
